After Erin Standen married the guy of her ambitions last year, she showered him and their family members in Cuba with love — and gifts.

The 28-year-old Brampton single mother began renovating her basement apartment for their new life in June, while waiting for the spousal sponsorship to come through in Havana.

She ripped out of the carpeting, installed tile floors, purchased a 47-inch big-screen television and place in a $4,000 bed room set, anticipating their arrival.

On Jan. 12, the wait that is long finally over and Jorge Manuel Batista Gonzalez, 33, reached Pearson airport terminal, embraced by an exhilarated Standen.

3 days later on, Standen says, Gonzalez — after kissing her goodbye along with $1,000 tip money she had collected in the bedroom as she left for her waitressing job — walked out the door with all the clothes and other things she had bought for him.

All of that stayed of him, she states, was a crumpled napkin: “Sorry we don’t dropped love anymore. Don’t lock for me. I’l be great. We will attempt to spend you straight back. Thank x Everithing. Jorge Manuel. ”

Standen claims she ended up being kept with 1000s of dollars with debt — from a $4,000 mobile phone bill to money she borrowed from her moms and dads on her behalf wedding in Cuba — and a heart that is broken.
